How Hi-Eat works

Hi-Eat is a marketplace for African home cooking. The food is made by people in their own kitchens, not by restaurants, and that shapes how ordering works.

Finding a cook

Start on find. You can search by dish, by cuisine, or by cook, and see who is cooking near you. Every cook sets their own hours, so what you see available depends on when you are looking.

Placing an order

Choose your dishes, tell the cook anything they need to know, and pay. The cook is notified straight away and decides whether they can take it. You will see the order move from placed, to being prepared, to on its way.

Delivery is 2.99, free over 30 pounds.

Booking a cook for an event

Birthdays, naming ceremonies, and anything else worth cooking properly for. Use book an event, tell us the date and how many people, and we match you with a cook who can take it. Guests you invite can see the menu and say they are coming.

What we take

Cooks keep what they charge for their food. Hi-Eat charges a service fee on top, shown before you pay. We do not take a commission out of the cook's price.

Who cooks

Every cook is approved before they can sell. We ask for a food hygiene certificate, proof of address, and identification. A cook who repeatedly lets people down is suspended.
